CANSO Joins A-CDM Partnership
CANSO joins ACI EUROPE and EUROCONTROL’s A-CDM partnership and targets 10 airports for full implementation in 2011.
The Airport CDM initiative took a notable step forward at last week's Airport Exchange 2010 with CANSO joining the ACI EUROPE - EUROCONTROL Airport CDM partnership.
There are currently 2 fully-implemented airports (Munich and Brussels) in Europe and the target is to add another 8 airports to this during the course of 2011. This is certainly an ambitious target, but one which Rockshore believes is achievable with the engagement of the right industry partners.
Here is what Graham Lake, Director General, CANSO had to say:
Delivering operational improvements through collaborative partnerships is a key objective of CANSO. I am delighted that we have been approached to assist with this valuable A-CDM project. CDM is a key component of the European Flight Efficiency plan, which CANSO supports, and over the coming months CANSO's European members will be working with our airport partners and colleagues at EUROCONTROL to find ways to accelerate CDM roll-out in Europe.
NATS Secure Gatwick Airport CDM Contract
NATS have secured a contract to provide London's Gatwick airport with a managed Airport CDM Service.
Here is what David Wilson, Head of Airside Operations at Gatwick, said:
A-CDM will not only increase the airport’s capacity, it will also allow us to improve our aircraft stand management, traffic flows, taxi times and reduce congestion. This is already the world’s busiest civil runway, and this will lead to more efficient operations, lower emissions and lower costs for our airlines.
Passengers will benefit from fewer delays and more accurate information on flight information screens because the software means flights can be tracked along the entire journey, rather than just on approach or departure.
