Situational Awareness at BA
Rockshore provides a range of real-time information services to UK airports. Here's how we helped British Airways improve operational decision making by providing a real-time geographical view of the airfield using our Ground View solution.
The Project

The Ground View situational awareness platform was deployed at London’s Heathrow Airport and accessed by a number of carriers, including British Airways.
BA began using the system across a range of functions in April 2007 within their Global Operations Centre based at the airport.

QinetiQ AVAS
The Project
QinetiQ were building a system to enhance the information available to drivers through in-car satellite navigation systems. The aim was to allow drivers to plan journeys based on cost, environmental impact and changing circumstances (for example: local weather or car park occupancy).
The system relies on real-time information to provide updates to the driver en-route, and automatically recalculate the optimum journey.

Satellite Communications Spend Manager
The Rockshore Data Spend Manager platform is designed to monitor the usage of data across mobile broadband connections.
Thales approached Rockshore to modify this system to manage satellite connections and prevent overspend by their customer BP.
The Problem
Satellite communications are an essential service for many organisations, particularly those operating in remote locations with unreliable communication alternatives.
BP contracted Thales to build a solution to control and reduce the cost of using satellite communications in real-time. Time frames for the project were very tight with deployment needed to coincide with the movement of an offshore drilling rig.
